DESIGN SERVICES

INITIAL Consultation

The first step in any permaculture garden design process is the initial consultation session, where we come out and meet with you on site to take a look around and get a feel for what you need.

A consultation session normally takes 2-3 hours and involves:

  • An initial chat (maybe over a cup of tea), where we will ask you about the history of the space, what you would like to achieve, any limitations that we need to know about and any ideas you already have.

  • A walk around with you to view the space - a ‘garden tour’.

  • A second walk around by us to check factors like the sun and soil along with identifying any site limitations or opportunities

  • A wrap up discussion to present you with some recommendations on how you could transform your space to be more efficient, productive and abundant

Your ‘space’ might be a small backyard, a large rural acreage, a school, a community garden, a sidewalk outside a cafe or even a rooftop.

Cost: $250 (extra travel costs may apply outside the greater Brisbane area)

CONCEPT Design PACKAGE

If you like the ideas discussed during the initial consult and would like to take the next step we also offer a concept design package which includes:

  • A conceptual layout plan (drawn to scale using CAD software) showing the existing features overlaid with proposed elements (such as garden beds, food forests, irrigation and composting systems, pathway networks, water storage, greywater re-use, chicken coops, greenhouses, etc). The plan will also break the space into ‘zones’ which will be referenced in the report.

  • A conceptual design report including detailed descriptions of the elements outlined on the design plan along with recommendations for plant groupings within the various zones. The report also includes an abundance of carefully curated information on areas such as composting systems, soil improvement, waterwise gardening and rainwater harvesting along with practical DIY guides on how to build your own raised garden beds, no-dig beds, pathways, garden edging, swales, herb spirals and more.

  • A comprehensive plant selection guide that you can use to select species that are suitable for each of the zones in your design.

  • Up to three revisions of the concept design.

Cost: from $660 for a small space (eg. small backyard) up to $1400 for a large acreage or similar*

*Note that the cost of the concept package is dependent on size of the site and complexity of the design. We can give you an exact cost during the intial consultation.

DETAILED Design PACKAGE

We can also provide detailed landscape designs which build on top of the concept design and include much more specific information such as:

  • Species planting layouts

  • Detailed designs and sections for garden elements

  • Dial Before You Dig reports

  • Recommendations for other contractors if we cannot carry the implementation out ourselves

  • Advice on where to purchase materials and plants if you’d like to do the purchasing
